Lessons
LESSON 1: WALKING TOWARD TRANSFORMATION
Simply put, discipleship is becoming like Christ. It is the journey of transformation into Kingdom people who embrace and reflect the very image of our Lord. Every newborn child of God embarks upon this journey as they begin their walk in the kingdom of God; it calls for some of the greatest sacrifices of our lives, leads to our greatest joys and rewards, and moves us in directions that are the most pleasing to God and reflective of Christ. It is the journey of discipleship.
LESSON 2: WALKING IN INTIMACY
The journey of discipleship seeks intimacy (closeness and fellowship) with God as its highest reward. While intimacy with God should be a felt experience, its foundation is knowledge. Knowing God is the cornerstone of intimacy with God. In Scripture, we hear His voice and see His movements in ways that inspire us to seek to know Him more, have deeper fellowship with Him, and have a greater awareness of His presence in our lives.
LESSON 3: WALKING IN SPIRITUAL GRACES
The pathway of transformation is founded upon several important spiritual disciplines (God-ordained practices) or graces (gifts) from God. Each one assists us in different ways to connect to God and grow more spiritually minded and mature. It is essential that we invest deeply in these grace as we seek to become more like Christ.
LESSON 4: WALKING IN SPIRITUAL GRACES (CONT.)
This lesson continues to explore specific “spiritual disciplines” or “graces” that promote our spiritual growth and intimacy with God. As we examine Singing, Fasting, and Solitude, we’ll see the special value each one has for our maturation and closeness with God.
LESSON 5: WALKING WITH FAMILY
The Kingdom Family has many different faces; each enhances our spiritual richness, stability, and growth as we journey ahead. Appreciating and participating in all aspects of the family portrait allows us to experience the blessings God created us to receive and share with others.
LESSON 6: WALKING WITH GENEROSITY
In order to gain the fullest understanding of the call for Christ’s disciples to be generous givers, one needs to take in the entirety of Scripture. But because of the need for brevity, this study will focus primarily on one specific New Testament truth that guides our giving.
LESSON 7: WALKING THROUGH DIFFICULTIES
Maybe the most challenging aspect of our discipleship journey is understanding and dealing with difficulties. Life is full of things that push against us, burden us, and hurt us deeply.
Because of this, the disciple must walk with a faith perspective that rightly evaluates difficulties and discovers the joy that can even be experienced in them.
LESSON 8: WALKING IN GIFTEDNESS
We realize the importance of spiritual growth (transformation) as it pertains to our journey. However, our spiritual growth and stability are not all we have been called to focus on. We have been placed in the Body to encourage and support the spiritual growth and stability of others through our gifts.
LESSON 9: WALKING WITH OTHERS
Hikers get as much pleasure in sharing their trail experiences with others, as they get while walking those trails themselves.
In the same way, disciples have experienced the beautiful scenery and the blessings of God that come in their walks with Christ. They are eager to share those scenes and blessings with others. They cannot keep the wonders of Christ to themselves.
